This 3-week residential program is for young people who are interested in and ready for the responsibility of caring for children in a camp environment while passing on the Hidden Villa legacy of social and environmental justice.
LIT participants begin learning some of the skills they will need as counselors, supporting camp programs, as well as enjoying some camp fun of their own. Topics covered in LIT are communication techniques, conflict resolution, and some basic leadership skills to use with groups of campers. Trainees have the opportunity to practice these skills and work with experienced counselors in our Day Camp programs by doing a volunteer internship for one week following this training.
Applications for our Leaders in Training program will be available in our online registration system beginning Friday, December 16th. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until all twelve spaces are filled. This process will be a combination of our staff hiring process, preparing youth for both employment and college applications, while still embracing the camp enrollment guidelines of preserving some spots for youth applying for financial aid, as we do in all of our camp programs.
