GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) was launched in 1999 with funding from the U.S. Department of Education. The mission of this educational initiative is to significantly increase the number of low-income and minority students who are prepared to enter and succeed in post-secondary education. The program provides six-year grants to states and to school district-university partnerships to offer services at high-poverty middle and high schools. YMCA Camp Mohawk, established in 1920, serves girls ages 7 to 15 at its beautiful site in northwest Connecticut. Girls can attend for as short as one week or all summer. Camp Mohawk offers girls a place to discover personal strengths, become more confident and develop an enhanced sense of self. Renowned leadership development programs, in addition to a twenty-two horse equestrian center for riders from beginner to advanced. Mature, caring and fun staff guide the girls in both cabin life and in the forty-two activities that are offered weekly. Great food, great friends, great fun!
Founded in 1900 and run by the Ebner family for nearly 70 years, Awosting is a traditional summer camp full of happy campers, mature, experienced and safety-conscious staff, and activities practically guaranteed to make a boy’s summer more fun! Camp Awosting boasts a beautiful lakeside setting on Bantam Lake in the rolling hills of Connecticut. Campers stay in one of 16 cabins on the premises. At least two counselors live in each cabin with the campers.
Since our very first summer, Camp Chomeish has inspired true chassidishe pride and joy in our daughters while giving them the camping experience of a lifetime. We’ve recently moved into our very own sprawling, 21-acre resort in Moodus, Connecticut. The new picture-perfect campus is 2½ hours from New York and boasts lodge-style cabins & facilities, and a private boating pond!
