Founded in 1924, Forest Acres Camp for Girls is located in Maine’s White Mountain Region. This camp provides a warm, safe, supportive and relaxed atmosphere where the children can have a positive growing experience with no pressure. Personal achievement is stressed in a community that has 150 girls. Forest Acres is a global community that welcomes children from 24 states and 6 different countries. The camp offers a community-based experience that focuses on the needs of each camper. Approximately 85% of the campers 14 years of age and under return each summer and a number of staff have been with working at camp for 30+ years.
Forest Acres is a brother-sister program (the brother camp is Indian Acres Camp for Boys located two miles away) that is unparalleled and offers the optimum camping experience that few others can offer. A commitment to each camper as an individual is the key to these flexible programs that balances the needs and requirements of everyone. Building community and teaching independence surround an 89-year history of caring for children. There are many second and third generation campers that attend each summer.
Some of the many activities offered are Softball, Soccer, Lacrosse, Tennis, Arts & Crafts, Ceramics, Cooking, Drama, Dance, Gymnastics and Archery. Forest Acres has an unheard of, 3 waterfront venues. A heated swimming pool, the renowned Saco River and highlighted by Lovewell Pond which offers Waterskiing, Wake-boarding, Knee-boarding, Sailing, Canoeing, Kayaking and a Water Trampoline make this camp a must-see.
Forest Acres’ English Riding program is well known and recognized as one of the best programs in the country. Riding is an additional fee for the summer and varies based on the frequency of riding lessons. Campers may ride 5x/week or 10x/week and in addition the program offers Drill Team, Vaulting and Stable Management.
Facilities include a modern gymnasium, heated pool, three waterfronts, a complete adventure course, climbing wall with a zip line, and an extensive tripping and hiking program.
Unheard of in the camping industry, directors visit 80% of the camp families during the off-season, every year the children attend camp. When your child attends this camp, not only do they become part of the camp family, their entire family does as well. It’s all about family.
Tuition Costs quoted are ALL-INCLUSIVE of trips, activities fees and canteen. Horseback Riding and Transportation to and from camp are additional.
