Stuyvesant High School is known for its rigorous academics. Even if your parents are rich, you may not be able to get in unless you can pass its highly selective entrance exam. The school boasts one of the highest SAT score in the city and is a feeder school to the country’s top colleges. While the students are very bright, they are not known for making lots of noises. This may change soon as one of its students, Tahseen Chowdhury, is running for the New State Senate.
As a student leader and a community organizer, Chowdhury, has proven his dedication to progressive ideals and progressive principles. The son of a Bangladeshi immigrant family, Chowhury grew up in a working class family in Queens. As the Student Union President at Stuyvesant High School and the Manhattan Borough Student President, Chowhury developed his leadership skills and gathered importance political experience which can become useful if he successfully unseats the incumbent senator. His campaign is centered around a few key issues, Senior Care, Afforability Housing, Safe Streets, Child Victim Act, Immigration and Single Payer Health Care.
While this is clearly a long shot campaign but we should congratulate Chowdhury as this will serve him in the future even he loses the election.
